press release

Finishing trades such as electricians, drywallers, and joiners must continuously make measurements in order to be able to calculate material requirements and costs. The GLM 30 Professional laser rangefinder from Bosch now makes it particularly easy for tradespeople to determine the necessary values by means of its self-explanatory one-button operation: the first press of the button switches the tool on; the second activates the laser – and the tool is ready to measure. If, for example, you want to check the length of a room, you place the GLM 30 Professional on the adjoining wall, aim at the opposing wall, press the button, and the length is shown immediately in the illuminated display. In this way, distances of up to 30 meters can be measured in seconds to within an accuracy of two millimeters – even by tradespeople who have little experience of using laser rangefinders.

Unique auto-sum function saves time
Another advantage of the GLM 30 Professional is the auto-sum function, which is unique on the market: each press of the button performs another measurement. The values are automatically added together and shown in the top line of the three-line display. This enables trades such as electricians, air-conditioning technicians or parquet floor layers to quickly and easily calculate how many running meters of cable, ventilation shaft, or baseboard they need for an interior fitting project. The hassle of having to add together individual results is eliminated, and errors due to manual transfer are excluded.

The addition is always shown in the top line of the display; the values of the previous and current measurement appear below this. If you want to start a new measurement sequence, simply switch the tool off briefly and switch it on again. This deletes the sum memory, and the measurement restarts at zero.

Compact companion for use on jobsites
The GLM 30 Professional is only 10 x 4 centimeters in size and weighs approximately 100 grams. This makes it the most compact and lightest professional rangefinder made by Bosch. It fits in any pocket and can be conveniently transported to any work location. To take account of the conditions on jobsites, it is also shock, dust and splash protected. These features together with the one-button operation and the auto-sum function make the GLM 30 Professional a solid basic tool for quick, efficient measurement. There is yet another advantage: the measuring accuracy and range of the instrument are certified in accordance with ISO standard 16331-1. This means that the specifications provided are based on defined parameters that are the same on all certified tools. This enables tradespeople to make an objective comparison of the measuring accuracy and range of certified laser rangefinders.

The GLM 30 Professional laser rangefinder including protective case and batteries will be available at specialist retail outlets from April 2014 onwards at the recommended retail price of 79 euros plus VAT. Laser viewing glasses and a target plate are available as accessories.
