press release

Bosch offers three cost-efficient tester packages for performing fast and economical system diagnostics on all passenger cars currently on the market. The packages are made up of high-performance components, which are designed to meet an array of workshop requirements.

All three packages center around a KTS 5-series control unit diagnosis tester and the DCU 130 Diagnostic Control Unit, which was specifically designed for mobile use in day-to-day work in the workshop. All connected diagnosis modules and testing systems are operated via the touchscreen on the DCU 130. The systems are operated using the current, future-proof version of the Bosch Esitronic 2.0 workshop software. The equipment supplied within the scope of the package combinations corresponds to the scope of supply for the individual components. The packages offer an attractive saving compared with the prices of the individual components.

Three Complete Tester Packages for an Array of Requirements
The KTS 890 package offers repair shops an extensive range of options for analyzing vehicles in a quick and cost-efficient manner. This package combines the DCU 130 Diagnostic Control Unit with the FSA 500 vehicle system analysis and the KTS 540 control unit diagnosis tester. All of the key electrical and electronic components in the vehicle can be tested using the convenient battery-operated FSA 500 measuring module. During this process, the actual values from the control unit diagnosis, which are supplied by the KTS 540 via a wireless connection, can be used directly. The tester package allows electronic components to be tested without even needing to remove them from the vehicle, thereby saving time. In addition to other features, there are 30 preset component tests available for the testing pro-cess. The system also boasts a multi-purpose oscilloscope with two-channel and four-channel modes.

The KTS 870 workshop package provides fast troubleshooting with reliable results for all passenger cars currently on the market. The package includes the KTS 570 diagnosis tester, which has a two-channel multimeter and a two-channel oscilloscope for troubleshooting. The connection between the DCU 130 tablet PC and the KTS module is established via a Bluetooth wireless connection.

The third package – the KTS 840 – includes the KTS 540 tester, which is equipped with a single-channel multimeter. The tester is combined with the mobile DCU 130 tablet PC and operated using the Esitronic 2.0 repair shop software. This package – which is the cheapest of the three – is ideal for workshops that are establishing themselves in the field of diagnostic technology and intend to upgrade to the FSA 500 measuring technology at a later date.

Compatible with Euro 5 – Reprogramming Possible
All three KTS complete packages are compatible with Euro 5, as they already feature the SAE J2534-compliant PassThru Interface. As such, the repair shop is able to reprogram control units. The current software version from the online portal of the vehicle manufacturer can be downloaded and installed on the control unit. The reprogramming procedure is described in detailed, step-by-step instructions on the Bosch workshop portal. Extensive additional information on this procedure is provided by Bosch on a dedicated website at http://rb-aa.bosch.com/aa/de/euro5/
