press release

With the D-tect 150 SV Professional, Bosch is launching a detector onto the market that is especially tailored to measurements under difficult conditions: it is detecting objects that are very close to each other, such as rebar, and for depth measurements. Moreover, this instrument delivers reliable measuring results even in wet concrete. The D-tect 150 SV Professional therefore helps site managers, test engineers and appraisers with their work, especially when verifying concrete covers.

Three concrete modes, depending on detection depth and moisture level
The wallscanner uses ultra wideband radar technology and two more sensors. The D-tect 150 SV Professional can detect rebar at depths of six centimeters in concrete only a few days after the concrete was poured. With every further day that the concrete has to dry, it is also possible to detect bars at a greater depth. The maximum measuring depth is 15 centimeters. There are three concrete modes to enable accurate detection:

·The “Concrete Universal” mode is the instrument’s standard setting. It is designed for precise measurement in thin walls. This reliably prevents objects behind a wall from being displayed. The materials that are detected are primarily rebar and metal pipes in concrete, but also plastic pipes with and without water filling, and live wires. The maximum detection depth is eight centimeters.
·The “Wet Concrete” mode delivers precise results when detecting in wet concrete, much more accurately than in the “Concrete Universal” mode. The maximum detection depth is six centimeters due to the damping of the radar signal by the water in damp concrete.
·The “Concrete Special” mode is set when measuring depths of up to 15 centimeters are required to detect rebar, live wires, and metal and plastic pipes, for example in thick walls.

Exact detection of objects that are close to each other
The D-tect 150 SV Professional always measures the exact depth of the object in centimeters. Normally, it is the depth to the top edge of the object. This enables, for example, the level of cover over a floor heating system to be calculated. The user can set the “Ruler View” in all modes. The instrument will then show the exact distance between two or more objects or the exact position of an object in centimeters.

Precise depth measurement and distance specification
The D-tect 150 SV Professional always measures the exact depth of the object in centimeters. Normally, it is the depth to the top edge of the object. This enables, for example, the level of cover over a floor heating system to be calculated. The user can set the “Ruler View” in all modes. The instrument will then show the exact distance between two or more objects or the exact position of an object in centimeters.

Exceptionally robust and easy to operate
The D-tect 150 SV Professional is incredibly easy to use: the language-based menu navigation on the large, illuminated display quickly leads to the exact measuring result. There are 13 languages to choose from. You can read the selected mode at any time. If an object is detected, the LED above the display lights up red and a signal sounds as soon as the wallscanner is situated precisely over the object. When live wires are detected, the LED flashes red and the instrument emits a special warning sound. Calibration of the D-tect 150 SV Professional takes place automatically. The instrument is therefore always immediately ready for use and there is no chance of application errors resulting from incorrect calibration. Moreover, the wallscanner is dust and splash-protected to IP54 and is very robust: it remains fully functional in drop tests from a height of one meter.

The D-tect 150 SV Professional will be available at specialist retail outlets from January 2012 onwards including carrying bag and batteries at the recommended retail price of 699 euros plus VAT.
