press release

Bosch is extending its range of 1 600 class routers to include two new tools: the GOF 1600 CE Professional precision plunge router and the GMF 1600 CE Professional plunge and copy router. Both tools are designed to make work easier in particular for joiners, cabinetmakers, shop fitters, window fitters and interior outfitters.

GOF 1600 CE Professional – high-performance precision plunge router
Thanks to its transparent sub-base and LED lighting, the GOF 1600 CE Professional precision plunge router allows a clear view of the working surface as well as the router bit, allowing users to achieve precise work results. When performing plunge cuts with router bits in the shank range of 8 to 12 millimeters or when working on edges, its powerful motor with Constant Electronic offers sufficient power reserves for fast and constant work progress even under load. Moreover, the plunge capacity of 76 millimeters ensures high flexibility in demanding routing applications.

A particular advantage of this new precision plunge router is the “After-Lock” fine adjustment system. This allows a cutting depth which has already been locked to be readjusted to within a tenth of a millimeter, saving time and allowing high accuracy. The GOF 1600 CE Professional also offers a reinforced column mount in the base plate. This provides high tool stability and allows for precision plunging of the router bit. Thanks to its flat housing cover, the router can also be easily stood on its head to enable fast router bit changes or easy adjustment work.

GMF 1600 CE Professional – plunge and fixed-base router with “Trigger Control”
Bosch offers the plunge and fixed-base router GMF 1600 CE Professional as an alternative version to also enable optimum tool control for copying work. The “Trigger Control” – a switch system in the handle – is unique to combination routers and enables professional tradesmen to guide the tool perfectly from the beginning. This is a major advantage for the user, because until now conventional combination routers had to be switched on at the motor housing, meaning that one hand had to be taken off the handle to start the tool.

Moreover, the GMF 1600 CE Professional offers the widest range of applications among hand-held routers, while simultaneously offering a high level of convenience. Its 1600-watt powerful motor can be fitted tightly in both the plunge unit and the fixed-base unit using an SDS locking system. The fixed-base unit can also be used in semi-stationary router tables. Further advantages of the GMF 1600 CE Professional include, as with the GOF 1600 CE Professional, the “After-Lock” fine adjustment, the transparent sub-base, the LED lighting, the reinforced column holder in the base plate, as well as the flat housing cover for easy router bit changes and adjustment work.

Bosch has an extensive range of accessories complementary to both tools. The Bosch routers will be available at Bosch stockists from September 2012 in a range of versions:
