New faces at Robert Bosch
Industrietreuhand KG and on the supervisory council of Robert Bosch GmbH

Stuttgart – The end of March / beginning of April 2009 will see a change at Robert Bosch Industrietreuhand KG (RBIK) and on the Supervisory Council of Robert Bosch GmbH. Effective March 31, 2009, Dr. Bo Berggren, formerly the chairman of the board of directors and chief executive officer of Stora, the Swedish cellulose and paper group, will retire for age reasons from the RBIK. Effective April 1, 2009, he will also retire from the supervisory council of Robert Bosch GmbH. Bo Berggren has belonged to the RBIK and the supervisory council since 1997. Berggren will be succeeded as RBIK partner (effective April 1, 2009) and member of the supervisory council of Robert Bosch GmbH (effective April 2, 2009) by Professor Lars G. Josefsson, who has been president and chairman of the energy group Vattenfall AB, Sweden, since 2000. Before joining Vattenfall, Josefsson also worked for Ericsson, where he held various executive positions.

Professor Dr. Hermann Scholl, the chairman of the shareholders' meeting and of the supervisory council, paid tribute to Bo Berggren's successful work. "With his international experience, his entrepreneurial foresight, and his positive attitude to a corporate culture characterized by a long-term mindset and value orientation, Bo Berggren played a significant role in the successful further development of the Bosch Group. For twelve years, Bo Berggren was an important advisor when it came to trend-setting decisions. The shareholders and the supervisory council owe him a great debt of thanks."

Effective April 1, 2009, Christian Brunkhorst was also appointed a new member of the supervisory council of Robert Bosch GmbH. He works at IG Metall HQ, where he heads up the industrial policy unit, focusing especially on coordinating activities in the automobile and automotive supply industries. Due to a change in responsibilities at IG Metall, he replaces

Dr. Aline Hoffmann, who retired from the supervisory council effective March 31, 2009. She had belonged to the supervisory council since April 2005. The supervisory council wishes to thank Aline Hoffmann for her great dedication.

RBIK carries out the entrepreneurial ownership functions at Robert Bosch GmbH. The role of Robert Bosch Industrietreuhand (industrial trust) is the result of the distinctive corporate constitution of Robert Bosch GmbH. It came into force in 1964, and safeguards the lifework of the company founder Robert Bosch (1861 to 1942). According to this constitution, a total of 92 percent of the shares in Robert Bosch GmbH are held by the Robert Bosch Stiftung, a charitable foundation. The Bosch family holds a strong seven percent of the share capital, while the remaining shares are held by Robert Bosch GmbH and the RBIK. With the voting rights, the situation is different: RBIK has 93 percent of the voting rights, with the Bosch family holding the rest. As Hermann Scholl, the chairman of the shareholders' meeting and of the supervisory council, points out: "This unique construct safeguards the independence of our company, also in the long term."

Together with Lars G. Josefsson, the RBIK comprises ten shareholders: the two general partners are Hermann Scholl and Tilman Todenhöfer, the former deputy chairman of the board of management. The limited partners are Dr. Christof Bosch, representing the Bosch family, Dr. Siegfried Dais, deputy chairman of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH, Franz Fehrenbach, chairman of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH, Dr. Jürgen Hambrecht, chairman of the directors of BASF SE, Professor Dr. Olaf Kübler, former president of Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich and currently director of the private fellowship "Society in Science: The Branco Weiss Fellowship" in Zürich, Dr. Michael Otto, chairman of the supervisory board of the Otto Group, and Urs Rinderknecht, formerly chief executive of the Swiss bank UBS.

The Bosch Group is a leading global supplier of technology and services. In the areas of automotive and industrial technology, consumer goods, and building technology, some 275,000 associates generated sales of 38.2 billion euros in fiscal 2009. The Bosch Group comprises Robert Bosch GmbH and its more than 300 subsidiaries and regional companies in over 60 countries. If its sales and service partners are included, then Bosch is represented in roughly 150 countries. This worldwide development, manufacturing, and sales network is the foundation for growth. Each year, Bosch spends more than 3.5 billion euros for research and development, and applies for some 3,800 patents worldwide. With all its products and services, Bosch enhances the quality of life by providing solutions which are both innovative and beneficial.

The company was set up in Stuttgart in 1886 by Robert Bosch (1861-1942) as “Workshop for Precision Mechanics and Electrical Engineering.” The special ownership structure of Robert Bosch GmbH guarantees the entrepreneurial freedom of the Bosch Group, making it possible for the company to plan over the long term and to undertake significant up-front investments in the safeguarding of its future. Ninety-two percent of the share capital of Robert Bosch GmbH is held by Robert Bosch Stiftung GmbH, a charitable foundation. The majority of voting rights are held by Robert Bosch Industrietreuhand KG, an industrial trust. The entrepreneurial ownership functions are carried out by the trust. The remaining shares are held by the Bosch family and by Robert Bosch GmbH.
